Veterinarians


Madeline J. Scofield, DVM CVA

Practice Owner, Small Animal Veterinarian

Dr. Madeline (Maddie) Scofield was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. She attended Texas Tech Univ. for an undergraduate degree in Zoology and earned her DVM from Oklahoma State Univ. in 2010. Dr. Scofield worked in Colorado and Wyoming, where she received certification in veterinary acupuncture from Colorado State Univ. prior to moving to the Eastern Shore with her husband Dr. David Scofield in 2012. She enjoys all areas of small animal practice but feels special satisfaction in treating senior patients using alternative treatments and hospice as well as performing soft tissue surgery, and building lasting relationships with clients and their pets. Dr. Scofield grew up with gun dogs and enjoys watching any sporting breed in action on the Eastern Shore. When not working, she enjoys trail walking with her dogs and baby, outdoor sports, fishing, cooking, gardening, and traveling with her family.


Dr. Kathleen Stevens, VMD

Associate Small Animal Veterinarian & Medical Director

Dr. Kathleen (Katie) Stevens graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine with a focus in mixed animal medicine. She was born in California, but with a father in the military, moved to many different states before her family finally settled in Northern Virginia. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in both Biology and Psychology before going straight to veterinary school in Philadelphia, PA. Following graduation, she completed a one-year internship in Farm Animal Medicine and Surgery at NC State Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh, NC to obtain more experience working with large animals. Dr. Stevens started working at Chestertown Animal Hospital in August 2017, working both in the small animal hospital and on the road treating large animal patients. She lives in Chestertown with her adorable pitbull/boxer mix Lennie, her chocolate lab Charlie, and her two cats, Gemma and Samson, all adopted during her time in veterinary school in Philadelphia. When not at work you may see her running around the neighborhood or hiking with her dog! She hopes to one day have a farm of her own while somehow finding time to travel and see as much of the world as possible.

Krista

Lead Client Service Representative

Krista joined the CAH team in December of 2022. She has lived on the Eastern Shore since she was just a year old when her family moved here from Alaska. Krista and her dog, Willoughby, live in historic Chestertown where she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and being outdoors. When Krista isn’t at CAH, you can find her mixing drinks on Saturday nights at the Blue Bird Tavern!


Morgan

Client Service Representative

Morgan grew up on the Eastern Shore and currently lives locally. She joined the CAH team in February 2024 completely new to the world of veterinary medicine. She loves problem solving and finding solutions for clients and their beloved pets and has a special adoration for golden retrievers after her childhood dog, Max. In her free time, you can find her spending quality time with her friends, leading youth group at the local church, spending time outside, or reading!


Autumn, LVT

Lead Surgery Technician

Autumn grew up in New Mexico and moved here in 2014. She graduated from Delaware Technical Community College as a Licensed Vet Tech in 2020 and became licensed in Maryland in 2021. She enjoys spending time with her family and animals, reading and being outdoors.


Bridget

Administrative Technician

Bridget is an Eastern Shore native who has been with Chestertown Animal Hospital since November 2023. Bridget is a huge fan of sporting dogs and is especially partial to her Labradors. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors.


Chrissy

Veterinary Technician 

Chrissy is a local to the Eastern Shore. She has been in the veterinary field about 6 years and before working as veterinary technician. Prior to that, Chrissy had worked at a local grooming shop on Kent Island. Since she was little, she knew that all she wanted to do was to work with animals and help them in any way she could. In her free time you can find her fishing or hunting. She also enjoys relaxing at home with her 3 dogs, cat, guinea pig and many chickens.


Jayda

Veterinary Technician

Jayda joined the Chestertown team in 2024 after working at a doggy daycare. She is currently pursuing a pre-veterinary medicine degree at University of Delaware and hopes to continue her education by attending veterinary school next year. When she isn’t working at the hospital, she enjoys reading books and spending time with her dog, Ruby!


Savannah

Veterinary Technician

Savannah grew up on the Western Shore of Maryland and has been in the veterinary field since 2021. She grew up loving animals of every shape and size and knew she wanted them to be a large part of her future. In April 2024, she moved to the Eastern Shore to join our team has been with us ever since! She loves fishing, hunting, riding around the farm, playing with her ducks, chickens, turkeys, Bloodhounds (like hers, Boomer), and finally spending quality time with her Fiancé, Buddy.


Syanna

Veterinary Technician

Syanna, born and raised in Maryland, joined the CAH team in 2024. She is currently in school to be a RN as well as a veterinary technician. When at home she enjoys spending time with her 3 cats and her dog, as well as reading and baking!


Sofia

Kennel Assistant

Sofia is originally from Elkton and moved to Galena in 2021. She graduated from Bohemia Manor High School in 2022 and is currently attending Towson University to obtain a degree in biology. Sofia hopes to attend vet school after college. When not working or at school, Sofia likes to spend time with her friends and family, going to the beach, and playing lacrosse. She has 2 dogs- Gunner, the black lab, and Brody, the Rottweiler.


Balz

Balz, our mascot and Doctor in training, has been with us since March of 2019. When he’s not wandering around the hospital boosting morale, you can find him drooling on CAH staff, lazing in front of sunny windows, or getting in trouble for chewing on everything his little paws can reach. CAH sure wouldn’t be the same without him!


Buster

Buster joined the CAH team in July of 2023 after being adopted from the Animal Care Shelter of Kent County. He brings smiles to the staff on a daily basis. Buster now has a great life- he enjoys sharing lunch time with his fellow staff members and taking extra-long snoozes on the couch and covering everyone he can with his orange fur.
